Solo Travel

Say YES to Solo Travel to ‘Find Yourself Again’

If you have been looking to ‘find yourself again’ or rejuvenate your soul … solo travel is one of the best ways to do it. Any time I’ve needed to escape ‘real life’ in order to move beyond times when I was feeling low (a bit like right now so I’m grateful to be in Islamabad where I have friends), solo travel works as well as therapy!

As someone who has used solo travel MANY TIMES to ‘find myself again’ I can assure you that you’ll want to surround yourself with nature (the beach, jungle, mountains, desert, countryside…), someplace you can escape the crowds and soak in inspiration for the future.

As for where to stay, definitely book a hotel / villa / farmhouse / Airbnb with a terrace, garden or balcony where you can spend moments of quiet contemplation. Be sure to choose a location close to access to activities you love to do or that is located in an area you know you want to explore.

For me, swimming under the stars (in the sea or a pool, both work!), waking up to coffee with a view, and lounging someplace comfy to watch the sunset with 🍷 wine does the trick.

I’ve been travelling solo since my teen years. Now in my 50s, I still feel as excited before each trip as I did back then.

I’m going to start sharing more thoughts and tips on #WhySoloTravel and #NomadLife in the hope of encouraging new solo travellers and nomads to embark on their own adventures.

📸 Solo trip to Sri Lanka. Rode in a sea plane, went on safari, travelled the entire south coast. Riding the train there was such fun! And I still dream about delicious, traditional buffalo curd 😋
