Have a Zombie Apocalypse Plan if You Live Abroad

It wasn’t long after my daughter left the nest (and I was deep in empty nest syndrome) that I genuinely – HONESTLY – put thought into a Zombie Apocalypse Plan. Well, for comedic effect, that’s what I called it anyway. It was more like: if the world falls apart, how do we find each other plan, not a whack-a-do plan that includes a bunker or end-of-days arsenal.

With our lifestyles, WE NEED ONE. We were living in India when she went off to uni. Since then, I’ve lived on 2 continents and in 5 countries. She’s lived on 3 continents in 4 countries, none of them in Asia where I’ve been. And not a single one of these 9 countries is someplace we’ve ever called home together.

Hence, the zombie apocalypse plan 😉

She has always made fun of me for this. But if global systems of communication breakdown and the shit really does hit the fan … we both know to REUNITE in the town in Spain where she was born.

Since I was a teenager, living abroad was the dream. Like all dreams, it comes with a fair share of potential downsides. Like living continents apart from family and friends.

Every nomad, expat, immigrant, and full-time traveller has experienced this in some way, shape or form. Even if you simply live far from the people you love in your own home state you’ve probably experienced this. So be sure to have your own ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE PLAN in plan, just in case!
